The aim of the work is to create a systematic and ranked (variation) palette of cultural images of the Moscow/Russian state, imperial Russia, the USSR and modern Russia in the light of diverse, kaleidoscopic, multidimensional historiographical reception (formats and modes of perception) from early modern times to the present. The main idea is to show how the process of othering Russia and the Russian cultural world unfolded in Ukrainian historiography of both the pre-academic and academic periods and, at the same time, to present the reverse process of cultivating the image of Ukraine as a civilisational enemy of modern Russia in Russian public opinion.
