 The problem of improvement of quality and reduction of additional losses of electric power caused by deviations of indicators of quality of electric power caused by sharply variable load from admissible values, is urgent at the industrial enterprises. The negative effect of such a load is that it leads to a high level of harmonic components, reducing the reliability of the operation of electrical networks and technological processes, increasing additional losses in the networks and elements of electrical equipment, reducing the reliability and failures of the relay protection systems, automation, microprocessor systems systems that lead to economic losses. A prime example of a sharply variable device is reciprocating compressors. Active and reactive load oscillations occur during the drive of such devices. It is known that the higher the reactive power at constant active, the lower the power factor. Thus, there is a need for a more detailed study of the impact of devices with a sharply variable load on the quality of electricity to find, in the future, ways to compensate.
