Structure, extraction and complexing ability of symmetrically substituted p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene derivatives containing benzo-(dibenzo-) and benzoazacrown ethers as substituents on the lower rim. The aim of this work – synthesis and complex formation with cations of alkali and alkaline earth metals bis(benzoazacrown ethers), in which oxyethylene linkers contain fragments of disubstituted naphthalenes at different positions. Synthesis of symmetrically substituted derivatives of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene with two and four N-carbonylbenzoaza-15-crown-5, amidobenzo(dibenzo)-crown ethers residues, molecular clips containing two molecules of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene attached to the diaza(dibenzo)crown ether molecule with amide groups. Synthesis of symmetrically di- and tetrasubstituted p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene derivatives with N-carbonyl benzocrown ethers and benzoazacrown ether residues was carried out. The antimicrobial activity of crown containing calix[4]arenes has been studied. Calixarenes with two residues amidoaza-18-crown-6 and amidodibenzo-18-crown-6 were the most active. According to the principle of action, the studied compounds are similar to natural antibiotics, but have less designated selectivity. It was shown that di- and tetra-substituted calixarenes with ethoxyamidobenzo-15-crown-5 and N-carbonylbenzoaza-15-crown-5 substituents are effective extractants for transition metal cations. A convenient method for obtaining molecular clips in which two p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene molecules are attached to a crown ether molecule with the amide groups has been developed. Bis(benzoazacrown ethers) with a central naphthalene fragment were synthesized.
