 The object of the research is the training of future architects in a higher education institution/university. The subject of the research is the formation of environmental competence of future architects in the educational environment of the university. The purpose of the research is to substantiate the theoretical and methodological foundations of the development of environmental competence of future architects, to develop and experimentally test the effectiveness of a pedagogical model for the formation of environmental competence of students, future architects, in a higher education institution/university. Research methods: theoretical: analysis, synthesis of psychological and pedagogical, special, normative literature; studying, comparing, summarizing the work experience of higher education institutions/universities on the problems of forming professional and environmental competence of students; empirical: observation, testing, interviews, conversations; analysis of the results of individual student assignments; ascertaining and formative pedagogical experiment; of mathematical statistics: for processing the obtained experimental data for the purpose of quantitative and qualitative analysis of research results. The scientific novelty of the obtained results lies in the theoretical substantiation of the pedagogical conditions for the formation of environmental competence of future architects, which ensure an increase in the effectiveness of professional and environmental training in accordance with the requirements of the ecological imperative of modernity on the basis of improving the content (designing an informational and environmental protection, environmentally motivated, professional and valuable educational environment) , forms (application of an interdisciplinary approach to solving practical tasks, conducting competitions, debates, discussions) and methods presentations, self-assessment, master classes, use of interactive methods and ICT technologies.
