Scope of research: The object of research was the spectrum of social functionality of religion in conditions of large-scale dangers (natural and socio-cultural origin). The aim of the work was the theoretical explication of the ideological and socio-communicative regularities of the mutual influence of religion (religiosity) and social dangers in the direction of drawing up models of practical overcoming of both the worldview crisis and specific threats to the physical and mental health of the individual and society in post-secular conditions. Research results: - the ideological basis for substantiating norms of social activity / responsibility of religious communities during natural disasters, epidemics and social upheavals is systematized; - monitoring the effectiveness of axiologically constructive and destructive forms of disclosure in religious beliefs of the essence of social / natural / epidemic disasters and their significance for the individual; ways and forms of perception by believers of such dangers and ways of responding to them. Elucidation of the value and life-practical contexts of the basic spiritually-oriented principles of recovery and preservation of mental health and adaptation of an individual experiencing the consequences of a social disaster; - indicators of changes in the arrangement of the communicative environment of religious communities in the conditions of epidemics, natural disasters and military conflicts are outlined, and positive (as well as destructive) facts of interaction with society of religious leaders are revealed (on the basis of surveys and content analysis).
