 The object of the research is means of individual respiratory protection for self-rescue during fires in buildings, which are defined by the Fire Safety Rules in Ukraine. The purpose of the work is to increase the effectiveness of the use of personal respiratory protection equipment for self-rescue during fires in buildings, which are defined by the Fire Safety Rules in Ukraine. Research methods – theoretical and experimental means of researching the time of evacuation from buildings, which, according to the Fire Safety Rules, must be equipped with means of individual respiratory protection for self-rescue.In order to safely evacuate people from objects with a mass presence of people for which, according to regulations, self-rescuers must be used, calculations of the actual evacuation time of personnel and visitors were carried out. Based on the values ​​of the actual evacuation time for each facility, the most effective self-contained breathing apparatus was suggested.
