The aim of the work is the theoretical justification for the elaboration of cogeneration systems using waste and low-potential energy sources with a view of solving the problems of energy saving in small and distributed generation by jointly using modern thermodynamics methods, mathematical modeling of thermohydraulic processes, optimizing the schemes and operating modes of power units under seasonal variation of the heat source potential and energy consumption.

A methodology for analyzing and synthesizing cogeneration systems using secondary and low-potential energy resources has been developed, and circuit solutions have been proposed to improve the efficiency of energy resource use. A thermal circuit for a utilization cogeneration system with an absorption thermal transformer has been developed, which, compared to existing analogs of waste heat utilization from industrial enterprises, allows the electric generating and thermal energy and condenser cooling due to a combination of a steam turbine and a water-ammonia absorption heat pump unit, which significantly increases its efficiency. Integration of an absorption heat pump with steam heating into the thermal circuit of a steam turbine and a method for determining its optimal capacity have been proposed. Energy-efficient variants of the thermal circuit for a cogeneration power plant with an air turbine have been developed, and its parameters have been determined, allowing for the efficient use of local regenerative fuels. Measures are proposed to reduce energy consumption in heat supply systems due to two-position control of the intermittent heating process of premises during its warming up at the beginning of the heating season, as well as the introduction of new enclosing structures with air chambers and heat-reflecting coating. A method for assessing the structural reliability of cogeneration systems, optimizing and adjusting their operation has been developed.
