 As of today, there are about 130 million patients with the acute respiratory disease COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, in the world. In Ukraine, this number is close to 2 million and growing steadily. Despite the global focus of the problem and modern methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of this disease, morbidity and mortality from COVID-19 remain very high - more than 2.84 million people have died in the world and more than 35 thousand people in Ukraine). At the same time, the number of remote consequences of this disease is steadily increasing, among which the leaders are neurological complications (strokes, encephalopathies, encephalitis, necrotizing hemorrhagic encephalopathies, epileptic seizures, rhabdomyolysis, demyelinating diseases such as multiple sclerosis, polyneuropathies, cognitive and behavioral disorders, headaches , sleep disorders and chronic fatigue syndrome), which most often lead to death or disability of people. It is believed that coronavirus infection causes damage to the epithelium, in particular the endothelium, which is accompanied by a violation (hyperactivation) of the blood coagulation system, as well as excessive activation of neutrophil granulocytes. Neutrophil granulocytes, when hyperactivated, cause an oxidative burst and a cytokine storm, and also form extracellular neutrophil traps that cause vascular occlusion. Since the smallest blood vessels in the human body are in the lungs and brain, the lungs are the first organ to suffer the greatest damage from COVID-19, and lung damage (tissue swelling due to oxidative burst and cytokine action, acute respiratory distress syndrome, blood clots) is the primary cause of mortality in case of COVID-19
