 The research objects are digital video and sound recordings recorded on physical data carriers or directly in the area of ​​data recording devices; physical media (memory cards, laser discs, flash drives, etc.) and video and sound recording devices (dictaphones, tape recorders, video cameras, video recorders, mobile phones, other household devices with the function of recording video and sound). The purpose of the work is the development of a scientific and methodological manual, which will define the theoretical and methodological principles of researching the authenticity of digital video and sound recordings based on modern experience as well as the expert practice of domestic specialists in the field of video and sound recording research, as well as best foreign practices. First of all, the work has optimized / improved / expanded the thesaurus of expertise in video and sound recording - introduced modern concepts most typical of digital recordings; defined subject, object and task of forensic video and sound recording, systematized and classified objects of this type of expertise; a single methodical approach to establishing technical conditions and technologies for obtaining digital video and audio recordings is defined, in particular when solving tasks related to establishing the authenticity of digital recordings. The purpose of creating a scientific and methodological manual is to provide background, technical provisions and potential criteria, according to which the examination of the authentication of a digital record should be carried out when its origin and / or integrity is doubtful.
