That’s why most powerful politicians are not only media active, but they also try to have their own influential media. According to some American researchers since 1960, Americans assessed the activities of their presidents not thanks to real financial and economic welfare, but how they were presented by well known American media. A similar situation is observed today in Ukraine. Recent presidential elections have demonstated that media is capable to make from the nonpoliticians real political leaders plus they could also influence the elections’ results. Over the years of independence, and with the advent of new media, the state has passed the way from active attracting media audience to analyzing the situation in the country (electronic democracy) to manipulating this audience (mediacracy). So one can see that media can play both a positive and a negative role in the social and political life. Therefore, the study of the phenomenon of mediatization of the modern Ukrainian policy is of urgent need. In particular after the elections of 2019, when the group of politicians came to power who were not so much socially active (they have no clear ideas about social needs), but they were really media active. Understanding of how similar processes are going and to what transformations they are capable to cause require interdisciplinary research and broad dissemination of results beyond academic communities. popup.nrat_date 2024-12-10 Close
