V. Kurdyumov IMPh of the N.A.S.U. popup.description1 The aim of the project is to make up a deficiency in the understanding how we can manipulate the external thermodynamic parameters (temperature, pressure or deformation) to stabilize the structure and control properties of a magnetic material that currently is a promising candidate to solve the problem of the reduction of production of permanent magnets containing critical rare-earth elements. The goal achievement will contribute to the optimization of properties and functionalization of the research object — martensitic α"-Fe16N2 phase. First, we have to improve (increase) the coercive force of this phase, which is experimentally observed to be suppressed due to presence of grain boundaries. Secondly, the phase stabilization is required at the raised temperatures (at least above the maximum stability temperature of 214 °C) to expand the range of operating temperatures for the phase application in permanent magnets without the involvement of rare-earth elements. popup.nrat_date 2024-12-10 Close
