Registration Date 03-03-2021 Organization National Science Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology" popup.description1 The goal of research is to study the mechanisms of gas discharge formation and discharge regimes in a gas discharge with a sharply inhomogeneous distribution of electric field and optimization based on these studies, characteristics of the barrierless plasma-chemical reactors of atmospheric pressure. Taking into consideration the fact that discharge formation and discharge regimes are a complex multi-stage processes influenced by many different factors, to achieve the goal of the project, it is necessary to develop the experimental stands to study the individual factors. In particular, the influence of the bias voltage on the dynamics of the bulk charge in the discharge gap will be studied. The optimal power supply parameters for stable and long-term plasma generation and ozone synthesis will be determined. Another direction is the latest highly-efficient technology for extracting heavy metal ions from water solutions, namely, the capacitive deionization technology (CDI), which is sometimes called electrosorption desalination. Due to the CDI technology, which is an alternative to reverse osmosis, dissolved ions can be effectively removed from water. Nitrates and heavy metals can also be removed and water hardness can be reduced. The optimal regimes for sorption/desorption of heavy metal ions depending on the valence of ions, temperature and pH of water solution will be determined. popup.nrat_date 2024-12-09 Close
