The DLE has a number of advantages and technological possibilities in comparison with traditional etching technology, however, features of processing of materials of plates by laser and the subsequent drawing of a protective nitride-chromium covering by physical vapor deposition can cause a decrease in the plates run-length stability compared to traditional plates manufacturing technologies.
