The choice of the direction of research is due to a number of problems of a planetary scale, which are extremely relevant for Ukraine. One of these problems is a rapid climate warming caused by anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Activities in the forestry sector are one of the most effective tools for managing and mitigating the effects of climate change. Another large-scale global problem is degradation, in particular erosion of the soil cover. In Ukraine, about a third of arable land has been eroded. As you know, forest vegetation is one of the most effective natural factors preventing erosion. However, at present time, there is a massive drying out and deterioration of the sanitary state of forest plantations, as well as their destruction under the influence of a number of anthropogenic and natural factors (unfavorable climatic changes, natural phenomena, large-scale forest fires, unauthorized deforestation, outbreak of pests and diseases, etc.). These problems are especially relevant for forest plantations in the southeast of Ukraine, which for the most part belong to the category of protective ones. Taking into account these problems, it is necessary to study comprehensively (reproduction both by natural renewal and afforestation; the formation and implementation of the main ecological functions by them) the current state of these plantings and develop a system of measures for their rehabilitation. Particular attention will be turned to the study of forest species that are promising for introduction into forestry, both in terms of resistance to adverse environmental factors and obtaining forest products in the shortest possible time. The research will be carried out on the basis of the principles of forest typology using a number of methods adopted in forestry, soil scien popup.nrat_date 2024-12-09 Close
