These are the most complex devices because they operate at the limit of physically possible sensitivity. The project proposes to improve the microwave single photon counter based on a superconducting flux qubit with a widely controlled reception frequency and a much higher counting rate. This will improve the performance of quantum communication systems and prepare them for future upgrades with modern superconducting materials.
