Head Sinkevych Yevhen Н., Доктор історичних наук Registration Date 12-10-2021 Organization Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy popup.description1 The aim is to generalize the experience of Central and Eastern European countries in changing the institutional, procedural and cultural characteristics of the political system and social model of development of the region. Determining the most important internal preconditions for initiating political and social transformations, including the formation of the opposition, the role of civil society, the impact of socio-economic problems on the political crisis in Central European countries and the stage of transition to democracy requires a balanced and critical scientific assessment. Transformation processes in Central Europe are not complete, given the instability of the social structure of their societies, the imbalance of political systems, the great influence of informal institutional practices, including corruption, excessive influence of external factors on internal processes, which is extremely pronounced at the present stage in Ukraine. The Central European experience of democratization is valuable for Ukraine, as these states share similar historical preconditions for socio-political development scenarios: long periods of statelessness, development within empires and authoritarian and totalitarian regimes, geopolitical influences of «great powers» and, finally, the beginning of the democratic process in the late 1980-s years. The principles and methods of solving socio-economic, national and political problems tested in the Central European region deserve attention, as it will allow Ukraine to avoid standard political risks and negative consequences that may arise as a result of unbalanced forms of government and disregard for general trends in democracy. At the same time, this experience, adapted to Ukrainian realities, will help to borrow positive institutional changes, mechanisms for the formation of a stable party system and the establishment of a functioning civil society. popup.nrat_date 2024-12-09 Close
