These new materials have a set of improved mechanical properties (hardness, strength, wear resistance, electrical resistance, corrosion resistance) and are promising for widespread applications, e.g., in fabricating machine components, dies and molds, corrosion-resistant parts, cutting tools, functional coatings, hard-facing, thin-film resistors, diffusion barriers, and high-temperature structural components. The study of structure changes in the melts of Al, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe and Ni based high-entropy alloys during the cooling process and transition to the solid state using methods of X-ray diffraction and measurement of structurally sensitive physical properties (density, surface tension, electrical and thermal conductivity, thermoelectric power), will be carried out. Thermodynamic approximations and computer simulation methods will help to establish the relationship between the features of the microhomogeneous structure of the melt and the structural and phase characteristics of solid alloys. Based on this research, the optimal parameters for obtaining high-entropy alloys with improved characteristics will be recommended. popup.nrat_date 2024-12-09 Close
