The Western region of Ukraine includes Volyn, Rivne, Lviv, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyy, Zakarpattya, Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi oblasts. First of all, it is necessary to assess the socio-economic potential of the territory, structural-spatial transformations of the economy, infrastructure and social sphere. To analyze the demographic potential of the territory in the conditions of intensive internal migration, which is almost the main factor in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. The integration of migrants involves the creation of conditions for their painless "growing up" in the economic, social and cultural environment of the region. In the post-war period the main human-geographic trends in the development of the Western region of Ukraine will be the following: improvement and modernization of infrastructure; integration of migrants; adaptation of relocated manufacturing enterprises to the region. Manufacturing enterprises relocated to the Western region must occupy their niche in the economic sector. In general, the solution of human-geographical problems of the region should be anticipatory character. The improvement and modernization of the infrastructure includes a set of measures for the development of railway and highway routes, as well as airports. Pipeline transport and power infrastructure are especially important. Border infrastructure faces specific challenges. It is primarily about increasing the amount of cross-border crossings. To substantiate the prospects of the region’s development in the context of cross-border cooperation.
