Information × Registration Number 0123U102620, R & D request Title Microplastic as a potential modulator of the pharmaceutical ecotoxicity in the aquatic environment. Head Stoliar Oksana Borysivna, Доктор біологічних наук Registration Date 22-05-2023 Organization Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Hnatyuk popup.description1 Assessment of the environmental impact of anthropogenically modified water bodies is complicated by the unpredictable combination of numerous micropollutants in water and in the organisms. This project is aimed at assessing the ecotoxicity of complex ecologically realistic pollution utilising biochemical markers of exposure, effect and sensitivity using filter organisms in model and natural conditions. Since microplastics are an integral element of highly altered water bodies and are considered as a hypothetical vector for other pollutants, special attention will be paid to the freshwater bivalve invasive Dreissena sp. and aboriginal Unio tumidus, and marine Mytilus galloprovincialis as potential sensitive organisms capable of accumulating aquatic pollutants, including the microparticles of plastic. The reaction of molluscs on the influence of microplastics of different sizes and in combination with pharmaceutical drugs common in water bodies (caffeine, chlorpromazine, metformin, etc.) will be analyzed under two temperature regimes in vivo in sub-chronic exposure, ex vivo in acute-toxic exposure, in situ in seasonal dependence. Based on the obtained results, a forecast will be provided regarding the mechanisms of sensitivity / resistance of aquatic organisms to the action of xenobiotics individually and in combination, as well as the species specificity of the responses. popup.nrat_date 2024-12-09 Close
