Information × Registration Number 0126U000310, R & D request Title Scientific and Methodological Foundations for Adapting Oil Crops to Climate Change and Decarbonizing Agroecosystems of the Northern Black Sea Region Head Oleh A. Kovalenko, Доктор сільськогосподарських наук Registration Date 16-01-2026 Organization State institution "Mykolaiv State Agricultural Research Station of the Institute of Climate-Oriented Agriculture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description1 The project is based on the ideas of using modern climate monitoring data on temperature changes, precipitation levels, and the frequency of extreme weather events in the region to model crop growth and productivity; developing cultivation technologies that account for drought tolerance and the ability of crops to recover after stress conditions rapidly; using different varieties and hybrids to enhance biodiversity and minimize yield loss risks under climate change; optimizing crop rotation by including new oilseed crops to help preserve soil fertility; diversifying oilseed crop composition to increase agroecosystem resilience; applying minimum tillage systems to conserve soil moisture and reduce the risk of soil degradation. The development of adaptive oilseed crop cultivation models has become critically important in ensuring food, energy, and environmental security. The use of decarbonization practices will reduce the carbon footprint of production. The introduction of drought-tolerant oilseed varieties and hybrids will enable stable yields even under conditions of declining precipitation. Improving agrotechnologies (e.g., mulching, dry irrigation, and the use of biostimulants) will significantly enhance the adaptive potential of crops to extreme weather conditions. Project objective: to develop scientifically grounded recommendations for the adaptation of oilseed crops to climate change, taking into account agroecosystem decarbonization, improved water-use efficiency, and diversification of crop composition. popup.nrat_date 2026-01-16 Close
