Computers, copying machine.Theoretical and practical results: Epidemiology of LEA has been studied in inhabitants of the city of Kyiv for the period 1995-1998. It has been shown that diabetic angiopathy and neuropathy lead in 50 % of cases to LEA. Late diagnosis and absence of diabetes treatment lead to repeated LEA. Absence of operations on vessels decreases efficacy of LEA prophylaxis. The results of this work underlie a Complex Programme "Diabetes Mellitus" which has been approved by a Decree of the President of theUkraine in 1999. Novelty: E pidemiological study of LEA in Ukraine has been carried out for the first time. Similar studies are being carried out in other countries according to WHO method, what is evidence of the world level of this work. Efficacy of the innovation: Provided a timely diagnosis of DM and appropriate treatment aimed at maintening DM compensation state, in the presence of investigations of blood flow and organ-preserving operations on vessels, the number of LEA in DM patients may be decreased by 30 %.Sphere of application: Medical and prophylactic establishments of endocrinological and surgical profile.
