The presence of two optical centers and thermally stimulated tunnelling of impurity ions between non-equivalent positions, are revealed. Effective transfer of electron excitation energy between two optical centers Pr3+ is found in Y2SiO3 crystals. Established is the origin of large isomorphic capacity of rare-earth oxiorthosilicates. Ways for creation of new optical materials on the base of many-component doping of rare-earth oxiorthosilicate crystals with rare-earth ions, are proposed.
