The experiments were performed on male white rats. The main goal of scientific work was basing of integral criteria of norm, studying of adaptation reactions peculiarities and professional pathological disturbances of chemical genesis (exposure to heavy metals as an example), argumentation and perfection of recommendations towards diagnostics of prenosological changes in organism during the exposure to environmental chemical factors. Investigations were carried out by means of clinical, hygienic, toxicological, hematological, biochemical and statistical methods on Perkin-Elmer 5100 (cold vapor), Saturn-3 (fire atomic-absorption spectral photometry), photoelectric colorimeter etc. Theoretical value of this work is grounding the statement on the possibility to create two forms of adaptation (primary and secondary) under the exposure to exogenous tox ic influences. Primary adaptation to heavy metals is genetically permissible norm of its vital functions. The method for quantitative measurements of primary adaptation has been proposed, the limits of suppression were substantiated. Secondary adaptation is considered to be the status of prepathology (regarding to norm), because it's reserve towards further more intensive exposures to organism will be limited. Revealed peculiarities of "bearer status" as the status of prepathology should be considered and interpreted in clinical practice as well as when considering the question of possibilities to continue work connected with exposure to different levels of heavy metals. The measurements of heavy metals content in indicative biological media (urine, blood, and hair), the limits of variation in case of norm, "bearer status" and toxic exposition are informative and diagnostically valuable.
