The goal of the analysis is to work out proposals to relieve tension at the labor markets of the coal-producing areas where the closure of mines is followed by most negative consequences in the social and working sphere. The methods used: economical and statistical, comparative, graphical, monographic and sociological analyses. For the first time in the world and domestic practice elements of the monitoring analysis of the sphere of social protection of those discharged from the mines being closed has been used; the volume of the whole labor market of the population in the coal-mining areas with an unstable economy has been determined; a regional classification corresponding to the employment structure of the population, demographic and economical indices of the development and condition of the labor market has been worked out.
