Karazin popup.description2 An electrodynamic mechanism has been advanced for coupling the lower ionosphere with the atmosphere affected by such remote transient disturbances as earthquakes, roket launches, high-power radio waves, anthropogenic atmospheric pollution, accidents at nuclear power stations accompanied by radioactive material releases, etc. New electrodynamic mechanisms have been revealed for both the development distrurbances due to the solar terminator at the edge of the ionosphere and atmosphere - ionosphere coupling due to solar and strong mesospheric electric field influences. The results of the Project would be of use to radar, education, the aerospace industry, the standard-frequency and time-signal services, modeling atmosphere- ionosphere- magnetosphere coupling during disturbed conditions, the development of promising instrumentation and techniques for studying dynamic process in the ionosphere, and to the development and maintenance of communication, navigation, and space systems.
