V., Registration Date 25-07-2000 Organization Kharkov National University named after V.N.Karazin popup.description2 Some physical and chemical factors,accelerating organism aging,were established to result in essential inorease of lipld peroxidation products content and decrease of glutation - dependent antioxidant system activity.Calorie -restricted diet,prolonging the life-span of animals,increased considerably activity of enzymatic antioxidant system in rat tissues and decreased content of lipid hydroperoxides.Alterations of lipid hydroperoxides content and glutathions peroxidase activity are assumed to be reliable oriteria of aging rate and search of new geroprotectors. Feeding flys on Rhodiola rosea extract with expressed antioxidant and membrane protective properties led to increase of life-span ,lowering of lipid peroxidation products accumulation and normalization of glutatione peroxidase activity.Soreening of 100 extracts from 37 species plants of Orchidaceae familly on availability of antioxidant properties was also conducted and 7 the most effective plant species,interesting for future investig ation as geroprotectors,were found.
