The objective of the research is to show the natural interrelationship between the quality of teaching, education and upbringing of students and the level of the student's general background and speech culture. The principal methods of the research are theoretical terms of reference of the problem in literature, forming experiment and pedagogical observations. In the process of the research from 1997 to 1999 it was found out how the influence of education and upbringin forges the students' speech and ecological awareness on the basis of the phenomenon of speech as the major means of communication and organization of the educational and upbringing activity. Further on the designed syllabus in pedagogy was tested and a range of issues on such special courses as Self- Education, Pedagogy of Personality, Art literacy of the Teacher, Ecological Culture viewed as a Pedagogical Problem, Individual Speech Culture as means of Self-Expression, Environmental Pedagogy was determined. The forming experiment was conducted on the basis of individual approach with maximum involvement of the principles of natural essence, humanism and democracy. Orientation towards positive emotions consisted in definition of notions of general background culture, pedagogical culture, culture of speech and speech act. The practical value of the research consists in the development of methodological materials which set out pedagogical conditions and methods of combining theoretical concepts with the practical application in everyday life of the learner for the purpose of his self-expression and self-realization in the process of the formation of languistic and speech culture and general backgrou nd of a person. The overwhelming majority of the pedagogical methods that we have outlined are realized in the educational process of the University (Foreign languages, History, Biology, Philology Departments).
