Fatigue fracture of materials has been modelled as a process of initiation of a macrocrack, which is successively repeated as continuous reinitiation during its growth. As a result dependencies «local stress range - macrocrack initiation period» or «local strain range - macrocrack initia tion period», which were established on the notched specimens, might be applied for the determination of dependencies «macrocrack growth rate - stress intensity factor range» or «macrocrack growth rate - local strain range» correspondingly, in case when macrocrack can be considered as a sharp notch with effective root radius
