A correlation between growth conditions and physical properties of crystals was found. The nature of the absorbing defects, mechanisms of their origin and distribution were studied. The effect of different growth parameters on the absorption spectra and laser damage threshold of crystals was investigated. A correlation between the nature, morphology of the absorbing centers and laser damage threshold of DKDP crystals was established. Regimes and a technique for the growth of strongly deuterated DKDP crystals were developed. Experimental samples with the deuterium content 95%, radiation resisitance 56wt/cm2 and optical absorption coef. <0.003cm-1 were grown. Application field: laser engineering.
