The aim is to expand the theoretical knowledge of the structure, semantics, pragmatics and ethnocultural specificity of different types of discourse; to develop the applied aspects of the problem. The necessity of a research of the kind is prompted by the fact a mere knowledge of the system of a language and its grammatical rules is insufficient for mastering the language; it is necessary for the spaker to use the grammatically correct utterances effectively and appropriately in order to achieve his /her communicative goals. Thus the investigation of the principles of discourse modelling and description is an important task that has a great theoretical and applied value. The present research is carried out using the factual data of English, French, German, Ukrainian and Russian; it not only deepens the knowledge of the corresponding language systems but also provides insights into the way of life, the specificity of mentality and the national psychology of the sociums.
