A variety of social, economic, ecological, cultural, psychological and biological characteristics of the family were examined to determine their effects on the health of women, the outcome of pregnancy and the development of the fetus. 7500 families from industrial cities were included in the study. Before and during pregnancy the large part of pregnant women had influenced of complex risk-factors : low economical status, unplanned pregnancies, unhealthy status, unhealthy lifestyle, smoking and using alcohol, unhealthy nutrition, stress etc. The main characteristics of actual health status of population of pregnant women are: complication of pregnancies- 89,9%; anemia- 53,0%; hypothention- 29,5%; diseases of pelvic-urinary system- 51,1%.
