The investigations were performed in the three directions. (1) A thermal instability in the upper mantle was studied on an example of Transeuropean activization zone. A model of asthenolenses formation was proposed that is based on the experimental fact of existence of melt-solid density crossover at ambient pressure 8-10 GPa. (2) The conditions of equilibrium of fluid driven cracks is studied in terms of the Dugdale-Barenblatt model. It is shown that equilibrium conditions depend critically on ratio of a crack lenth to the so called critical length. The derived analitical solutions are valid in the case of high lithospheric pressure. (3) The deformations resulted from the intrusion of a crustal sill are calculated. The conditions of sill propagation and the rupture of the sill roof accomponied by a seismic event are studied.
