The methods for the preparation of raw material from alumina of the mark Г-00 for growing sapphire and raw powder for growing yttrium orthovanadate crystals have been developed. The method for growing large (250x250x30 mm) sapphire crystals of high optical quality has been put into experimental production. The technological yield of commercial crystals has been increased from 60% to 80%; their weight has changed from 4 to 6 kg. The experimental samples of sapphire products - optical windows to 200 mm in diameter have been prepared; yttrium orthovanadate crystals (YVO4:Nd) O25x50 mm and active laser elements on their basis diam. 2-5 mm and to 50 mm long have been grown.
