Efficiency and field of application of the method of prevention of covering with ice the shafts based on periodical change between the exhaustion and blowing operation conditions of the main fan and vice versa (with change of the direction of air motion in the shafts) as well on elimination of negative influence of natural air draft are investigated. Measures of prevention of covering with ice the shafts that causes accident situations in the coal mines right up to death of people are worked out. Optimum duration of the cycle of air re-circulation underground depending on the air temperature in the shafts is estimated. 120 copies of the "Methodical instructions..." are sent round industrial associations, holding companies on coal mining and other organizations-consumers. Economic efficiency consists in economy of electric power for heating air being fed through the downcast shafts and tr ansition to ventilation at the expense of natural air draft, as well at the expense of repeated reversal of mine ventilation.
