Target-oriented design of chain repeating units of poly(amide imide)s (PAI) by changing the number of molecular "swivels" permitted to control the degree of intersegmental association in solution, as well as to significantly increase the upper temperature limit of the service interval (up to 570-650 K) and to improve both the gas-separating characteristics (selectivity as high as 100 for the mixture methane/carbon dioxide) and the dielectric properties (maximum increase of the dielectric permittivity below 1,5 in the temperature interval 170-470 K). The developed PAIs can be recommended for use in chemical industry as highly efficient membrane materials for gas separation, and in tre industry of electronic devices as high temperature dielectrics.
