An aim of the research: a theoretical basis of a methodical base for calculations of the maximum flood flow and flood characteristics in the Dnieper river basin, stages of possible lower reach submersions, estimations of radionyclide contamination degree of meadow and shrub vegetation during the its submergence in the flood plain. The research methods: the mathematical modelling of natural and anthropogenous processes. The obtained results: First for the Dnieper river basin the single calculating method was worked up for the maximum discharge definitions of flood flows and floods. The diffusion wave model for the calculations of the flashes from the Kakhovka water storage and the flash transformations along the river was realized. The mathematical model was given as well the algorithm of its realization for the radionyclide contamination estimation of the floodplain vegetation.
