The research project aims at developing models for revealing atmosphere -ionosphere electrodynamic coupling mechanisms in the presence of external high-power disturbances, and at upgrading radio techniques for their probing. A set of basic equations has been chosen for developing theoretical models of electrodynamic processes that occur in the disturbed ionosphere under influence of the electric current source and the voltage source. A comparative analysis of the effects of an external mesospheric electric current source and a voltage source on disturbance in the basic plasma parameters of the lower ionosphere proved that the electric current source is more effective in affecting coupling between the electric field and the ionospheric plasma.
