The aim of study: mobilization of the world genepool of cultivated plants to use in breeding, national economy, investigations, educational programs; maintenance of plant genetical diversity for the present and future generations. Investigation methods and equipment: introduction, investigation by field and laboratory methods: seed storing at the National Bank; management of computerized information system. Theoretical and practical results: At the National Gene Bank there are 13561 accessions of 108 species of cultivated and wild relatives. 2755 accessions from abroad were analyzed in the introduction-quarantine nursery. There have been revealed some samples of cereal crops - sources of economic characters. The information about 28908 acc. of the genepool of 225 crops has been collected in the establishment of the System for Plant Genetic resources of Ukraine and introduced in the passport data bases. The data on 16596 acc. have been introduced into the i ntroduction base. The seeds of 15646 acc. of 157 crops belonging to 32 families have been prepared and put for long-term storage into the National Bank. 14734 acc. of 112 cultivated and wild relatives' plants have been distributed to breeding and research, educational institutions and other users. Innovation: As to its composition and diversity the National Gene Bank has no analogues in the Ukraine and corresponds to the Standard of the leading World Banks. Efficacy: the provision of breeding, research and other programs with high quality original material; conservation of the genepool in viable state and genetical variation. Application area: selection, scientific investigations, educational institutions, agricultural production on the farms of various forms of property.
