The aim of study: to study physiologo-biochemical properties of winter crops' resistence to unfavourable winter conditions and to search for sources of high forst-resistance. Investigation method and equipment: field, laboratory-field, vegetation tests along with direct influence of low temperatures in controlled conditions, low-temperature chambers KNT-1M, spectrophotometer SF-26, electrophotocalormeter KFK-2. Theoretical and practical results: it has been established the genome of a frost-resistant cultivar with a prolonged period of vernalization is at the more stable status than in the cultivars with a short period of vernalization and lower frost-resistance. Application area: The result obtained are used in breeding to create new cultivars of winter crops; the data of inspection of production plantings are included into the recommendations for winter crops' management in the Kharkov Region.
