Subject of research: factors and mechanisms of the formation of intellectual elite in the conditions of modern universities. Purpose of research: definition of the most important factors and the main mechanisms of the formation of domestic intellectual elite in High Schools. Methods of research: quantitative survey, in-depth interviews (experts also), focus- groups analysis of documents etc. There are represented the main statements of the sociological program of the research of the problems of formation of intellectual elite in the conditions of classical and "new" universities. In particular, there represented theoretical and methodological basics of the studying of these problems, analysis of empirical data (collected during all - Ukrainian survey, the object - students of the High schools). The authors of the report came to the conclusion about the necessity of definite changes in the cont ent and forms of the process of teaching in domestic High schools in the direction of enlargement of fundamental, social and humanitarian schooling of the future specialists as the basis of their development in the quality of the intellectual elite of Ukraine.
