Aim: to study the effect of damage and long-term stimulation of hypothalamic structures on adaptive abilities and life span of old rats. Methods: stereotaxic electrode implantation, electrostimulation and electrocoagulation of brain structures, EEG registration, conditioning, tail-flick reaction. Scientific and practical results: the results suggest that lateral hypothalamic area function is impaired with ageing. Course of electrostimulation improves function of LHA neurons, increases adaptive abilities and life span of old animals. Novelty: for the first time it was demonstrated that electrical stimulation of hypothalamus increases the life span of old animals. Effectivity: improvement of the scientific investigation quality. Fields of application: gerontology, physiology. Product Description popup.authors popup.nrat_date 2020-04-02 Close
