An important link of the pathogenesis of radiation-caused injury is thought to be the capillary wall damage and the enhancement of interstitial reaction, i.e. pericapillary fibrosis, pronounced sclerotic changes and edema. Under combined effects of radiation and geroprotectors (calorie-restricted diet, spirulina) there occurred an intensification of the adaptive processes, activation and proliferation of the connective tissue cells, as well as normalization in the structure of the examined organs.
