There was developed a scheme of qualitative and quantitative estimation for different categories and types of wetlands, and general ecological characteristics of key wetlands in the south of Ukraine. There is presented an estimation of wetland territories (landscape and biological diversity) and ornithocomplexes of dominating, rare bird species and species-indicators. Main results of investigation of wetland ornithocomplexes in the region are presented per seasons. It provides an opportunity to follow the periods of maximum load on water bodies and periods of restoration of biotas for other trophic levels. This is confirmed by concrete data on species diversity and number.
