The work is carried out using spectrophotometric and coulometric techniques. Simulation is performed on computer. When determining bromide and iodide as fluorescein halogenation products, it is studied, through spectral characteristics of the analytical form, the dependency of analyte signal on the time of interaction, the temperature of the reaction mixture, catalyst concentration. For determination of haloide ions, a variant of multi-way spectroscopy, a combination of electrochemical oxidation with spectrophotometric determination of haloides with fluorescein, is proposed. The relation between the haloide ions content and absorbance of flourescein halogenation products at different wavelengths is established by principal component regression. Theoretical background of multicomponent coulometry is reviewed. A variant of method ofcoulometric determination of bromide and iodide, when present together, is developed. The method includes sequential electrochemical oxidation of iodide (at E = 0.75V vs. silver chloride reference cell), extraction of iodine and electrochemical oxidation of bromide (at E = 1.1V). Determinations of bromide and iodide in model solutions and bromide bath mineral water have been performed. The concentration ranges and uncertainties of the determination of bromide and iodide are compared for the methods: direct coulometric one on platinum electrode, spectrophotometric one by fluorescein.
