The aim of studies is to investigate the general rules of structure variation and phase conditions of single and multi- layer metal films versus their characteristic size and preparation conditions. The research methods. The films were obtained by vacuum condensation under the different conditions (the condensation rate, the pressure and the composition of the residual gases were changed). The film structure was explored by high-energy electron diffraction and transmission electron microscopy methods. High energy electron diffraction investigations of lattice parameter have been carried out for Cu, Ag, Au, Al, Ni island vacuum condensates prepared by thermal evaporation under wide-range changing of their condensation conditions for the first time. It has been shown that for islands prepared under condition of vanishing of influence of gases admixture, the lattice parameter decreases with the decrease in particle size. The evolutionof island distribution over sizes in metal films, condensed by the pair - liquid mechanism on an amorphous substrates in conditions of partial unwetting and with the account of liquid coalescence is studied. The established rules correlate with available experimental data and results of computer modelling. Our differential method for melting point measurements yields the refined values of the eutectic temperatures for In and Pb with Al. We have shown that the melting points of In and Pb films between thick Al films decrease with their thickness decreasing. The main results are received for the first time.
