Aim of work: examination of molecular mechanisms of radio-frequency electromagnetic field effect on biological structures (frequency 1850 MHz, power density 0.82 mW/cm2). Methods: biophysical, biochemical, radio-physical, mathematical. A literature review of present-day concepts regarding radio-frequency electromagnetic field effect on biological structures is given. Human blood erythrocytes as well as model lipid and protein-lipid membranes were studied. UHF irradiation of liposomes suspensions was shown to have no considerable effect on distribution of charged moieties at the membrane surface, spatial organization of protein-lipid complexes, conformation of lipid-bound proteins, and physical state of lipid phase. Resistance and shape of banked blood erythrocytes did not change after 5, 15, and 25 minutes UHF irradiation. However, data were obtained suggesting redistribution of primary lipid peroxidation products in erythrocyte membrane after comparatively short UHF irradiation (5 min).
