Aim of work is social and economic development estimation. Methods of research are taxonomy and cluster analysis. According to the offered concept the estimation of social and economic development of the Kharkiv region, and other regions of Ukraine on following complex indexes is carried out: to quality life of the population; to economical development; efficiency of resource potential usage. The quality of life the population was valued on following partial parameters: a life time of the population; health of the population; educational level of the population; the incomes of the population; the consumption of the budget; the ecological situation. There were made conclusions that for increase of a general level of this parameter first of all is necessary to provide measures, directional on maintenance of increase such its component as: a life time of the population (16 th place in Ukraine); health of the population (20 th place); the consumption of the budget (10th place); the ecological situation (21 st place). The level of economical development of the Kharkiv region was valued on following components: the industry; the argiculture; paid services; the budget. Outgoing from their research there were made conclusions that for increase this complex parameter it is necessary to provide measures, directional on support of an industry and agriculture, behind which one the region takes 5-th and 13-th places in the general rating on Ukraine. The resource potential of the Kharkiv region was valued on such components, as: mineral, land, wood and recreational resources. On efficiency of usage of a mineral resources the Kharkiv region has taken 6-th places in Ukraine; land - 5-th; wood-10th; recreational - 4th. Thus, was made a conclusion about a high potential of Kharkiv region development, the reference directions of its support and further increase are determined.
