We studied cytological, cytochemical and immunophenotypic characteristics of hematopoietic cells as well as chromosomal aberrations in course of the diseases. We established that high expression of early hematopoietic antigens and complex damage of caryotype are inherent for progressing subtypes of MDS and AML post MDS. We described new chromosomal aberrations in bone marrow cells that are responsible for progression of MDS in acute leukemia. We have proposed combined point prognostic system for calculation of MDS progression based on percent of bone marrow myeloblasts, expression level of early hematopoietic cells antigen CD34 and caryotypic characterization of bone marrow cells.
