A technology of firing low-grade coal by using microwave energy is suggested. An experimental test bench has been developed and set up for refining this technology. A radio-wave method of contactless precision monitoring of heat expansion and mechanical vibration of parts and assemblies in power generating equipment has been suggested and theoretically substantiated. A mathematical model of a power installation has been developed for solving the problem of analysing and optimising power installations in the interactive mode. New models have been developed for heat exchange equipment service life and blading erosion design. A new approach has been suggested for the problemof firing low-grade coal in boiler furnaces by using a microwave technology. Theoretical and experimental research has been carried out in developing the physical basics of a radio-wave contactless precision method for measuring spatial-temporal variations in the geometric characteristics of parts and assemblies of turbine units, which is principally new for the power generation sector.
