Contingent: Healthy young (n=15) and elderly (n=35) people, elderly patients with IHD (n=30). Methods: Radioimmune method for determination of plasma melatonin concentration, 24-hour monitoring of arterial blood pressure (ABP), heart rate (HR), heart rate variability (HRV), and body temperature (BT), bicycle ergometry, mental stress test, determination of the titer of thymic serum factor (TTSF). Subject of study: Circadian biorhythms of plasma melatonin concentration, TTSF, ABP, HR, HRV and BT; reaction of CVS to stress loads, functional age of CVS, physical and psychomotor working ability, blood lipids. Results: Deterioration of melatonin forming function of pineal gland in elderly people is characterized by a decrease in nocturnal peak and amplitude of blood melatonin concentration circadian rhythm. In elderly people the course treatment with melatonin (3 mg at 21.30) led to recovery of the circadian rhythm of plasma melatonin concentration, the decrease in CVS reaction to stress loads, and increase in physical and psychomotor working ability, the decrease in CVS functional age, normalization of circadian biorhythms af ABP, HR, cardiovasculat sustem's autonomic control, body temperature, and endocrine function of the thymus. Conclusions: Results obtained testify to the expediency of administering of melatonin (3 mg per day) to elderly people for correction of circadian biorhythms disturbances, limitation of excessive reactions of CVS to stress loads, and prevention of accelerated ageing. Field of application: medicine - cardiology, gerontology, geriatrics. Product Description popup.authors popup.nrat_date 2020-04-02 Close
